Female ID# 94001

Bred to male 96016 in 2000 and produced 2 offspring. Below are a series of photos of these two offspring as they have undergone the color change process.
First is a female ID# 00009. She started off as a rather normal looking hatchling. It took her almost a year before she even started her change. When she did it looked as though she was going to have the same bright light green color as her mother with an increased amount of yellow toward the posterior portion of her body. She has since started to lighten and loose a lot of the green. It's as if the green is just fading away. I've never seen this type of change before.
Left to Right. The first image is at hatching, second is August 2001, third is December 2001 and the fourth is January 2002.
The next is male ID# 00010. He started as a striking looking hatchling and I knew he was going to be something special. His change happened very rapidly and started around 6 months of age.
Now in 2002 we are going to be breeding this Key Lime female 94001 to Buddy Goetzger's Lime male Mr. Limey. He's pictured at the bottom of this page.
This female had difficulty laying her 2002 clutch. She was observed crawling around her enclosure on 27 March with a portion of her oviduct prolapsed. Within it were 3 eggs. We were able to remove the eggs through a small incision. Afterward she passed several more eggs. By 29 March it was obvious she still had not passed all her eggs and after consultation with our veterinarian the decision to surgically remove the remaining eggs was made. We were able to photo document much of the activities of this ordeal. Click here if you would like to see these images.
Unfortunately, she did not recover well from the surgery and she was found dead on 30 March 2002.
We did manage to salvage a few of the eggs. On 23 May 2002 the six remaining viable eggs began to hatch. Their weights ranged between 10 and 13 grams. Click here if you would like to see images of the hatchlings.
